Welcome to Liberty Farms Sport Horse Company!

Henrietta and Chris

With year end awards at NWSHBA Award Ceremony.

Liberty Farms Sport Horse Company (“Liberty Farms”) has two farm locations in the beautiful Pacific Northwest region of the United States. The two farms are about 50 minutes apart and embody the best of what Washington State has to offer. The East Farm (Graham, WA) is located in the foothills of the beautiful Cascade Mountains, while the West Farm (Olympia, WA) is located near the saltwater shores of the Puget Sound. The two farms are about 45 miles southwest and southeast of Seattle –Tacoma International Airport…an easy commute.

Henrietta Morey and Christopher Bredeson, cousins and life-long horse enthusiasts, along with Henrietta’s husband--Philip and Chris’s wife--Darla officially founded Liberty Farms in 2000. Henrietta and Chris both grew up in the small, rural town of Roy, Washington where they were first introduced to Hungarian Sport Horses by trainer and eventer Val Sivertson. Val herself had first met the Hungarians Horses as a working student in California of Linda Tellington of current TTouch Training fame.

In the late 1970’s, a Hungarian Stallion – H. Taltos arrived at Val’s Washington stable from the Hungarian Countess Margit Bessenyey’s Bitterroot Farm in Montana to begin his breeding career. As a young barn hand, Chris assisted Val with handling and caring for Taltos. Chris was fortunate enough to raise one of Taltos’ first foals, a beautiful filly out of his TB/QH cross mare.

Both Henrietta and Chris went on to achieve success in business careers; Henrietta in consumer products marketing and Chris in health care administration. Horses, while always being a part of both of their lives, took a back seat to education, careers and family. Henrietta moved to St Louis, Missouri to work as a marketing manager with Anheuser-Busch and Chris to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida as an executive for Coastal Physician Group. Horses were still a great passion for both of them but time to pursue that dream was scarce.

After several years away, Henrietta and Chris each returned to their native Washington State. In November of 2000, Liberty Farms Sport Horse Company was formally launched with the purchase of eight Hungarian mares. Liberty Farms was named such prior to the horrible events of September 11, 2001, which only made the name more significant. The name was chosen in honor of the Liberty ship, which brought the first Hungarian horses to the US after they were rescued by General George Patton.

In late 2001, Liberty Farms Sport Horse Company purchased the Hungarian stallion, HS So Rare. They have been extremely pleased with how HS So Rare has crossed with a variety of mares, including the original Hungarian mares.

One of the goals of Liberty Farms is to breed and promote sport horses in the Olympic disciplines of dressage, eventing, and jumping. Take a look at Liberty Farms’ For Sale Page and find your next champion. Better yet come and see him. Visitors are always welcome!
